Borrisokane Community College School Notes

1st Year Hurling

Our 1st years took part in a Blitz in Thurles on Thursday. It was great to get the opportunity to play some competitive games. Well done to all who were involved.

U19 Boys Basketball

Hard luck to our U19 boys who lost out to Mercy Kilbeggan during the week.  Great improvements were made as the game progressed which is very promising for the games ahead.

U16 Boys Basketball

Our boys had a tough opening league game against a strong Kilbeggan team. Lots of positives have been taken from the game as we progress in the competition.

Chemistry & Ag Science Trip

Our Chemistry and Ag Science students participated in a Ballyfinboy river habitat training workshop this week.   The workshop was facilitated by Sean O’Farrell and Tom Ban. It was great to use our local area for this workshop.

Library Committee

The Library committee held their first meeting this week and over the coming months will decide on a list of books to be purchased for the library.

Senior Camogie

Our senior camogie team had their first practice match of the year against Portumna this week. Preparation continues for championship next month.

U16.5 Hurling

A super result for our U16.5 hurlers against Mallow this week. They battled admirably from start to finish to turn a 12 point deficit just before half time into a two point victory in the opening round of their Munster Championship on a score of 3-10 to 17 points.

Transition Year

Transition Year students enjoyed a three day trip to Killary Harbour Outdoor Education Centre in Mayo where they took part in water and land activities.

Erasmus

A group of fifth year students and their teachers enjoyed a week long trip to our partner school in Lithuania last week.  It was wonderful to meet with our partner school and experience the Lithuania culture.
