PE and extra-curricular Sports, the primary concern of education policy, takes a broad view of children’s development and considers sport as but one of a number of forms of physical activity that can benefit children. In view of the growing problem of obesity among children and adults and the possible role of increased physical activity as a means to combat this problem at Borrisokane Community College we are an official Health promoting school. In addition to its benefits for health, sport also makes an important contribution to children’s physical, personal, social and emotional development, a fact that underpins the place of physical education in the school’s curriculum. Among the many extra curricular sports the students enjoy and have achieved great successes are listed below.
