Borrisokane Community College Notes – 17/04/2026

U16 Girls Tennis

Well done to U16 girls Munster Tennis team who competed against the Ursuline Secondary School in Thurles on Monday April 13th. Unfortunately they lost to a very strong Ursuline team.

Future Leaders

Transition Years Future leaders commenced Events Month by hosting students from St Brendan’s Community School, Birr on Tuesday April 14th. Students participated in a range of sporting activities such as Long Puc, Tug of War, Crossbar Challenge, rounders and targets challenges. It was a well organised and enjoyable event, with prizes involved too. Well done to those students on their teamwork and organisation.

Transition Year English in Kairos

Two of our Transition Year classes enjoyed a day in Kairos Recording Studios Maynooth on Wednesday and Thursday – April 15th and 16th. The students had carefully planned for Kairos Day in class where they brainstormed and  scripted their TV programme and assigned roles, both on and off camera. In the recording studios, they produced and acted in their TV programme. Some students operated the cameras and worked on the sound. This was a valuable learning experience and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Culture and Ethos Week

Culture and Ethos week was celebrated at Borrisokane Community College, celebrating the cultural lives of students at our school. The School of Sanctuary committee were hard at work organising activities in class. A Non Uniform Day took place on Wednesday April 15th where staff and students wore red to show solidarity against racism. There was awareness drawn to the languages spoken in our school and the message that everyone is welcome in Borrisokane Community College.
