Borrisokane Community College Notes – 27/3/2026

Beauty and the Beast

Borrisokane Community College’s Transition Year musical Beauty and the Beast took place on Tuesday March 24th and Wednesday March 25th. The students brought the classic tale to life with energy, enthusiasm and talent. The special matinee performance on Tuesday morning was enjoyed by the local primary schools.

The production told the story of Belle, played by Niamh Murphy, a bright and adventurous young woman, who falls for the charms of the Beast, played by Noah Ryan, a prince cursed to live as a monster unless her finds true love.  The cast delivered stand out performances, especially on the well-loved songs “Be Our Guest”, “Beauty and the Beast” and “If I Can’t Love her”. The choreography and the wonderful set design transported the audience to the Beast’s enchanted castle.

The musical was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, staff and teachers of Borrisokane Community College. Well done to all on their efforts and many thanks to the Parents Association for their support also.

Tipperary ETB Green Week

Tipperary ETB Green Week was marked in the school last week, with the Sustainability Team  making the entire school community more conscious of their energy usage and sustainable habits. The areas for awareness are reducing energy use, protecting biodiversity, promoting sustainable habits , reduce waste and green skills training. Over the course of the week, students audited energy and water use. They also emailed energy saving tips and reminders to the school community each day this week to promote energy conservation.

Students also took part in a photography competition and a weather watch competition. Well done to all the winners.

Drama

Transition Year, 5th and 6th Year students experienced the inspirational stage adaptation of bestselling biography, Poor, live from the Gate Theatre on Thursday March 26th. This was followed by a question and answer session with the author Katriona O’Sullivan. The students enjoyed this experience and gained valuable insights into the topics of education, opportunity and equality in Ireland.

Badminton

The U19 Girls Badminton Team represented Munster in the Schools All Ireland Division 1 Championship on Wednesday March 25th. This was the first time the school played in  Division 1 at All Ireland level, having qualified following last year’s successful season.  It was a great experience for the students to play at the highest level, even against some international players. While they lost to Leinster and Ulster,  they drew with Connacht, with players putting in some great performances. With many younger players coming up through the ranks, the future of badminton is bright in Borrisokane Community College. Well done to all involved!
