Borrisokane Community College Notes – 13/3/2026

Junk Kouture

Borrisokane Community College was represented by two groups at the Junk Kouture Regional Final on Monday March 9th. ‘From Bottles to Blossoms’  was designed by Louise Killeen and Ciara Maher, while ‘Danger on the Dairy’  was  the creation of Julie Ryan and Ella Ryan. Both groups performed excellently on stage on the night, with  ‘Danger on the Dairy’ advancing to the Dublin City Final which will be held in May. Congratulations to all the students and their teachers on their hard work over the past few months.

Erasmus

Swedish Erasmus+ visitors were welcomed to the school on March 9th. Over the course of the  week they were immersed in the Irish culture and experienced many Irish traditions including  GAA games. The students and their partners travelled to Lullymore Bog and the Dáil. Participating students and their Erasmus+ Swedish partners also took part in a Student Council workshop.

Young Environmentalist

Congratulations to our TY Young Environmentalist group who have reached the semi final interviews of the competition. They built a biodiversity area on the school grounds, along with creating a bee friendly flower area, which includes a bee and insect hotel . This will increase biodiversity in our school grounds and help us to achieve sustainability goals.

Kildalton Open Day

Senior students enjoyed a visit to Kildalton College Open Day on Friday March 6th, where they had a full tour of the college and the farm and they were given a number of workshops on the different areas including soil management, herd management and safe machinery use.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Bhí atmaisféar iontach bríomhar le brath ar fud na scoile i rith Sheachtain na Gaeilge i mbliana. Reáchtáladh neart imeachtaí spraíúla chun ár dteanga dhúchais a cheiliúradh agus chun spreagadh a thabhairt do gach duine cúpla focal a úsáid. Chun tús spleodrach a chur leis an gceiliúradh, eagraíodh ceolchoirm speisialta ina raibh taispeántais cheoil ag daltaí na scoile.

Lean an tseachtain le Tae agus Plé sa seomra foirne eagraithe ag ár gCoiste Gaelbhratach, bhailigh múinteoirí le chéile chun comhrá neamhfhoirmiúil as Gaeilge a dhéanamh, agus tae blasta le sólaistí a ithe. Ina dhiaidh sin, bhí Céilí againn – rud a thug deis do chách damhsaí traidisiúnta a fhoghlaim agus a chleachtadh.

Ar cheann de bhuaicphointí ag druidim chuig deireadh na seachtaine bhí Tráth na gCeist ag na mic léinn sa dara bhliain, áit ar throid foirne ó gach rang go fíochmhar le fáil amach cé a bheadh ina máistir eolais na Gaeilge! Bhí Cluiche UNO as Gaeilge ann don chéad bhliain, rud a chruthaigh atmaisféar lán gáire agus cairdeas.
