Erasmus

A group of Transition Year and fifth year students visited Cologne on an Erasmus trip last week. They enjoyed their experience of German school and cultural life. The Water and Life project group visited Cologne’s sights, including the famous cathedral. They took part in perfume making and various other cultural activities.

Future Leaders

Transition Year Future Leaders ran a “Guess the Score” of the Senior Club Camogie All-Ireland final and the Hurling semi-finals as part of their Event Management Module. Well done and thank you to all the students and staff who took part!

 

Library Visit

Borrisokane Community College students visited Nenagh Library to hear all about the great services they offer on Monday January 12th. They also availed of the opportunity to view the Diving Ireland exposition, which showcased an incredible collection of underwater photography.

 

Angus Beef

Best wishes to the Certified Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition team – Raymond Dockery, Odhran Goulding, Darragh Hogan and Alan Burke,  who were interviewed on Thursday January 15th,  in the Teagasc Research Center. As they await the result of this interview, we commend them on all their work so far in the competition.

Agriculture Talk

Senior students had an informative talk by Conor O’Brien from Salesian Agricultural College in Pallaskenry on Thursday January 15th. They gained information on the courses and pathways on offer from the College and through the CAO system. They also learned about the international work placement opportunities.

 

S.T.E.M

Congratulations to those 5th year girls who graduated with a level 6 qualification in the STEM Passport – 21st Century STEM module at MTU Kerry on Thursday January 35th. These girls have earned 50 CAO points which can be used to continue their studies in the world of STEM after completing their Leaving Cert next year.  The girls completed this module as part of the Transition Year Programme last year.

Tipperary Sportsperson of the Year

Sixth year student Aidan O’ Hara was awarded the Annerville Tipperary Sportsperson of the Year for Darts for the second consecutive year at an award ceremony in the Talbot hotel in Clonmel on January 10th. This is a great achievement for Aidan and all at Borrisokane Community College pass on our congratulations.
