T.Y. Angus Beef
On Monday October 13th a group of Transition Year Agricultural Science students and the Angus beef competition teams went to Towra Angus and Livestock Services for a workshop on Safe Handling of Livestock. This informative workshop was sponsored by the Department of Agriculture. Many thanks to Jim Dockery for hosting the workshop and for providing the group with excellent training. Thanks also to their teacher Ms. Hayes for organising the event.
T.Y. Young Scientist
Congratulations to our T.Y. students who completed their entries for the Stripe Young Scientist competition and are awaiting to hear if they are successful in reaching the Finals in Dublin.
T.Y Community Engagement
Our TY Community Engagement class have been busy connecting with the local community.
Our students visited Borrisokane Community Centre to lend a hand at the ‘Wednesday Club’, helping to serve tea and coffee, wash up, and even joined in for a bit of dancing!
We also had the pleasure of welcoming two members from our local Men’s Shed, Gerry Duggan and Seanie Egan, who spoke to the class about the amazing work they do and the various projects they’re involved in. A huge thank you to them for taking the time to visit.
Well done to all our students for their brilliant organisation and for baking some delicious treats for the occasion.
Active Schools
Our Active Schools class organised a lunch time basketball tournament for 1st years over the past six weeks, in which Golden State Warriors won over Indiana Pacers. Well done to all involved.
Drama Trip
5th Year girls enjoyed a trip to Poor, the stage adaptation of Katriona O’Sullivan’s novel at the Gate Theatre on Wednesday October 15th. They were inspired by Katriona’s life story of overcoming generational and inherited disadvantage through education.
1st year Table Quiz
A huge well done and thank you to our wonderful Cairde Team who organised and hosted a really enjoyable table quiz for our 1st years on Wednesday afternoon. Congratulations to our
winning teams.
Maths Week
Maths week took place in the school this week, with students enjoying activities in class and outside the classroom, including riddles and numeracy orienteering on the walkway, organised by the Active Schools class.
Gaeltacht Scoláireacht
Comhghairdeas do na daltaí a bhfuair páirt-scoláireacht chun freastail ar Choláiste Sheosaimh an samhraidh seo chugainn. Ag tnúth go mór leis gan dabht. ‘Is leatsa í an Gaeilge’.
Junior Girls Soccer
The Junior Girls soccer team defeated St Anne’s Killaloe in the first round of the Munster Cup on Friday October 10th. The scoreline was 4-4, which went to extra time and then penalties. Well done girls!
1st Year Camogie Blitz
1st year camogie had their first blitz on Tuesday October 14th. They had a great win against Ballingarry, scoring 3:7 to 3:6. T.Y. Future Leaders students did a fantastic job refereeing the matches. Well done everyone.
U15 Soccer Match
Our U15 soccer team travelled to St. Ailbe’s Tipperary Town on Tuesday October 14th in the Munster Minor Trophy. They were unlucky to come away defeated, with three chances cleared off the goal line by the home team. Well done to all for a great performance.
U 16 and U19 Basketball
On Monday October 13th our U16 and U19 Girls basketball teams travelled to Portlaoise. U16s were unlucky in their game, but worked hard and showed great determination. U19s had a very exciting game, winning by just 1 point in the last 8 seconds.
Our u16 s and U 19 s Boys Basketball team suffered defeat to Mountrath on Thursday October 16th. The U16s still managed to score 56 points which was very impressive.
Senior Hurling
Well done to our senior hurlers who had a great win against Ardscoil na Mara, Tramore on Wednesday October 15th. They will play Salesian College Pallaskenry in their next group game.
Entrance Scholarship
Congratulations to LC student 2025 Cóilín Doris who was a Commended Runner-Up for 2025 Theory & Practice Construction Studies Entrance Scholarship. Cóilín’s project has been recognised as one of the best in the country. Cóilín was presented with his Certificate of Distinction by Mr Ryan (Construction teacher) and Ms Molloy (principal). Well done and we wish you well in your future endeavours.
Careers Trip
Our 5th years had a day of discovery at the Limerick Colleges Open Day on Thursday October 16th. Thank you to the teachers who travelled with them.
