Borrisokane Community College Notes
Wellfest Week
It was an enjoyable week of activities for our Wellfest week, combining Active Schools and Wellbeing week. Students enjoyed Zumba, Mario Carts, Balloon Challenge, Bubble Soccer, Tag rugby and Laser tag obstacle course. The highlight of the week was the Whole School Colour Run on Friday, helped by the sunshine!
Athletics
Our students had a very successful day at the girls East Munster Athletics, held in Templemore on Thursday. Emily Stapleton won gold in the hammer, Ally Mulvihill gold in the javelin and Jessica Leenane won bronze in the 300m hurdles. Hard work in very hot conditions. Best of luck to the girls who qualified for Munsters.
Tennis
Well done to our U14 Girls Munster Tennis Shield team, who got out of their group and played a quarter final against Kinsale Community School today in Cork. They lost their match with an end result of 4 – 0. Thanks to Borrisokane Tennis Club for the use of their courts during our match preparation and their continued support.
Camogie
Our Senior Camogie team completed their year with a great win in the Senior B County Camogie blitz in Borrisoleigh on Tuesday.
Following good wins over Borrisoleigh and Templemore in the group stage. We advanced to the Final, facing Borrisoleigh once more. Some great scores early in the first half saw us take the lead which we held to go on and win the final. It was a great way to cap off the year, especially for our 6th year students years. Thanks to Borrisoleigh for the use of their facilities.
Scholarship
Congratulations to our past pupil Richard Ellis on being awarded the 2024/25 Excellence Scholarship to University College Galway. We send him best wishes from Borrisokane Community College.
Biology Trip
5th year Biology students travelled to Lullymore Heritage Park in Kildare as part of their mandatory practicals. They enjoyed the interesting Ecology.
