Borrisokane Community College School Notes

World Skills LCA & TY

Students from Leaving Certificate Applied, Fifth year and Transition Year travelled To Dublin on Thursday to the World Skills Exhibition in the RDS.  Students got to view the range of Apprenticeships that are available to them. It facilitated an atmosphere of experimentation and discovery through competitions, interactive events and demonstrations.  It was a great way to view and chat to colleges and see how important these skills are across the globe.

The Global Goal Challenge

Second year classes 2C & 2D travelled to St. Brigits Garden in Galway to work in teams to overcome challenges based on the Sustainable Development Goals.  It was an excellent experience for the students as they worked together to overcome obstacles and find solutions to some of the big challenges we are facing in todays changing world.  They used cooperation and critical thinking skills and teams completed hands-on tasks and solved puzzles on the theme of local and global development.  A great day was had by all.

Leaving Cert Geography Field Trip

Our Leaving Certificate Geography class travelled to Lahinch on Monday last.   It was a long day but a great effort was put in by all collecting results and writing notes.  All these results will now be used as part of their Leaving Certificate Geography Project.
