11 Borrisokane Community College girls donate hair to the Young Princess Trust

On the 26th of April, 11 girls from Borrisokane Community College donated between 7- 12 inches of hair to the Little Princess Trust. This charity makes wigs for boys and girls who have lost their hair due to illness or cancer treatment. We started our day by heading down to Serene Hair Salon Borrisokane. Laura Donnelly the owner, kindly gave up her time from 9am to 11am to cut the hair and restyle. She generously gave each a gift of hair products after cutting their hair. During this time Fran Curry from TIPP FM talked to 3rd year student Julie Reddan who was the first to donate her hair and Deputy Principal Suzanne McMahon.

After the hair cut we headed to Mags Bistro who generously gave us hot chocolate. The girls also collected sponsorship and have raised over one thousand euro so far and this money will be going to the North Tipperary Hospice, Suaimhneas and the Little Princess Trust.I, Julie Reddan cut off eight inches of my hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust. When I heard one of the teachers in my school, Eimear Lyons wanted students to support this great cause I volunteered straight away as I was thinking of getting my hair cut anyways. Wellbeing is so important in our daily lives and that doing something for others or giving time and care to others plays an important role in our wellbeing and positive mental health. The reason I cut my hair was because I thought it was a great cause and I highly recommend for anyone to support this.

If you wish to sponsor one of the girls you can give donations to any of the following students ; Sarah Leenane, Julie Reddan, Laura Bergin, Saoirse Dunne, Laura Leenane, Laura Dillon, Saidbh Brannigan, Ellen Austin, Laura Cleary, Erin Ryan, Heather Cahill.

If you or someone you know are planning to cut at least seven inches of your hair, please remember you can donate your hair to this great cause. Simply ask your local hairdresser or visit www.littleprincesses.org.uk all donations are greatly appreciated. (Julie Reddan)
