Borrisokane Community College Notes – 7/11/2025

Stand Up Awareness Week

Our school community took part in a number of activities for Stand Up Awareness week, which is national campaign by BelongTo promoting inclusion and preventing homophobic and transphobic bullying. Our Ardchinnirí raised our LGBTQ+ flag on Monday morning and announced the events happening in the school during the week. Friday was dress up day where students wore a colour of the rainbow.

Barista Workshop

Our Leaving Certificate Applied and Transition Year students enjoyed a Barista workshop facilitated by Dublin Barista School on Tuesday November 4th.

CPR4Schools Programme

Well done to TY class 4A who have completed the CPR4Schools Programme, facilitated by the Irish Heart Foundation. Over the course of six weeks, students learned how to perform hands-only CPR through the video led programme. They learned the difference between cardiac arrest, heart attack and stroke, what to do if someone is choking and how to use an AED. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain one of life’s most important skills!

T.Y. Library Committee

Our Library Committee met during the week to plan literacy activities for the term ahead. One of those is a weekly Book Club for 1st year, which was well attended on Thursday at lunchtime. This is open to all 1st years who are interested in book related chats and activities.

Gaelbhratach

An téarma seo beidh ár gCoiste ag eagrú dhá imeacht. Gaeilge 24 leis an idirbhliain agus ‘Tráth na gCeist’ leis an gcéad bhliain. Tús maith, leath na hoibre!
